 2018 Preview

Baldwin County completed the 2017 season with a 7-3 record. Last year Baldwin County just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region one with a 5-3 region record.

The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2003. The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2007 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2003 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, the Baldwin County football program has struggled with a record of 23-57.

Over the past 25 seasons, Baldwin County has managed to compile a record of 110-142. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 6A and 242nd in the AHSAA.

The Tigers are led by head coach Nathan McDaniel who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 21-19 over the past four seasons at Baldwin County. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach McDaniel.

Coach McDaniel's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 21-19 (52.5%).

The Baldwin County Tigers will play in Class 6A region one during the 2018 season.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Tigers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Unfortunately, Baldwin County finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. Baldwin County has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2007 but hope to return to the post season this year.

The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Murphy on Friday, August 24 at Simmons Field. Last year the Murphy Panthers finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 7A region one. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Vigor by a score of 28-21.

Baldwin County and Murphy have met a total of 28 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 10-18-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2005 with Murphy winning by a score of 34-7.

Baldwin County returns 6A All-State  defensive lineman Albany Casey. He was named to the second team last season.
